I started Squires CPA, LLC in the summer of 2014. It was started initially to fulfill the pull of my life into the entrepreneurship field. As I started to explore the idea of opening my own practice, God created an opportunity as local CPA was moving into retirement. We became comfortable with each other and came to an agreement. I was then allowed to serve a lot of their existing client base. This helped give me the courage to leave the “safety” of the corporate arena and jump full-time into the wonderful world of self-employment.
My business has allowed me to meet and work with amazing individuals and business that inspire me to greater heights in my own business. It also allows me to bring my knowledge to help assist others in providing for their families and employees. Not only do I have the privilege of helping others, but it also allows me to have the ability to provide for my wife and two daughters Lexi and Nora. It also provides the flexibility to be actively involved with my local church.
My goal for the business is to always be able to provide the personal service that is expected of a trusted adviser. I also want to avoid the pitfall of just having a transactional relationship with my clients by only speaking to them at tax time. I never want to be too busy at “tax time” to not give our business relationship the due diligence it deserves.
In the time spent outside my practice I enjoy spending time with my wife Devin and children. We really enjoy our local sports teams, especially the Chiefs, Royals, and MU Tigers. I also enjoy teaching as I am an adjunct faculty member at Columbia College teaching several different accounting classes.
